James W. Tufts

I bought a set similar to this at the auction.  Except my sugar bowl does not have the top, and my creamer has a dent and my set is scruffier.  But this set is for sale on eBay for $29.99 and I bought mine which also has a bigger bowl (with no lid) for $5.00.  The set cleaned up nicely and looks quite charming despite it's wear and tear.  Does anybody know anything about James W. Tufts quadruple silver plate?  I'm thinking about planting a little maiden hair fern in the larger pot...what do yawl think?  Will it ruin it? I don't plan on reselling.....and I love the idea of things repurposed.

You really got a bargain!

If you put a plant in it, you should leave it in the plastic pot, put stones or glass stones in the bottom to raise it up, and take the plant out to water. You can line it with foil, too.

omg angel...i have the teapot that matches that set! a friend of ours found all kinds of things washed up inland after the hurricane and one of these was this teapot. the inside is badly corroded-i imagine from the salty sea water sitting in it for so long, and all the stuff he brought me were blackened, but great for what i use them for. i thought the stamp was the year, i had to look it up myself...
i'm going to mosaic over mine-i think-but the teapot is beautiful with the deep engravings.
you got a great deal!
