Wild Goose Chase
I can smell a wild good chase a mile away. My beloved (bless his heart) cannot. We have been married 15 years this year and it took me about 2 years to figure out that he, my daughter and son do not, and probably will never be able to 1. know when something is a wild good chase, 2. if it sounds to good to be true--it probably is, 3. not be a sucker for a gadget.....and there are other things......but that's enough now. The only thing that I can think is that it must be genetic.
Now you ask what made me think about this? Because tonight was David's latest wild goose chase. Let me explain. There was a sign up at the school that our gkids attend that said something like this. "Country Music Show--dinner at 6 and show at 7." It was not in the local paper, nobody was saying anything about it, there were no flyers up in town and most of all......most of all........there was nothing on the sign, nor did anybody know who the singers would be. Okay? Okay.
David was all excited about going and I love music just as much as he does, but I began to smell the wild goose chase right away. Now I had planned to go, but after a day of cleaning/washing/etc. I was just too tired. I tried to make him see the light and get him to stay home and just veg out in front of the TV......but noooooooooo. Anyway, this is one time I didn't tag along, I decided that I would rather stay home and finish washing/folding/putting up clothes. (Now what does that tell you?)
He was home by 8:30, and I didn't say I told you so, but I did tease him a little........ok......more than a little. It must have been pretty bad, because normally he would have come home telling me every thing, but all he will say is that it was ok.
See, if he had just listened to me.........

Nature's Angels
The reason I have not been blogging more is not because things aren't rattling around in my head, but because I have been too busy reading other people's blogs...namely the ones to the right. From One Pretty Thing, I stumbled upon a friend of mine who has the most wonderful blog..the link is here which is her website for her porcelain and the link to the blog is on the left. I love reading about the goings on at the farm, the dogs, (she loves her dogs just like I love mine) her photography and of course the porcelain. I have quite a few of her pieces and plan on acquiring more, especially now that I can order them through her website.
I think my favorite is the Magnolia (of course). I have the ornament and the brooch. This is a picture of my collection, sorry for the quality--but I just took it the camera in my phone.

What I've Been Up To
I know, I know--the title above ends in a preposition, but hey--I'm a nurse not an English major--see I don't know if I'm supposed to cap that or not, but something tells me that I should....but anyway.
Last week was just one of those weeks with nothing except going on except #4 gchild's birthday Saturday. She turned 15, I mean 5. By Saturday afternoon I was pooped. We came home with #1 gchild and #4 gchild. I snuck off to the bedroom and before I could blink, #s 1 and 4 were in the bed with me, arguing over who could be in the middle. (seems that is very important) We struck a deal--they could watch TV while I napped--however I didn't count on #4 sitting on my legs, #1 snuggling up under me, GinGin sleeping on my head and CiCi sleeping on my neck and David getting in the bed too with the exercise machine on his arm. Still despite all of this I fell sound asleep!! It is unheard of for me to take a nap.
David put the curtains up in the great room for me....well it seems that I only ordered one panel for each french door-you know two per door instead of 4. And I ordered them too long and even though that I intended them to puddle on the floor, they really puddle on the floor. David says the dogs are going to love peeing on them. But you know what--I love them like that. So Ihave ordered more from JC Penney. When I'm through with everything, I'm going to post pictures.
I have become addicted to reading blogs.....so I'm reading more than I'm blogging. My favorite blogs are about crafting and recycling and of course dolls. I found the idea of using old suitcases for doggie beds and of course I loved that idea. We have two old suitcases that we bought at an estate sale, I bought two 3 dollar pillows at WalMart and put pillow cases on them that I embroidered years ago with a kitten motif. CiCi went straight to it and made herself comfortable.....GinGin on the other hand....well she cuddled up with CiCi one time.....oh and in the picture you can see my whiskey barrell ringer washing machine that I got for Christmas one year and my puddley curtains.(sorry they are fuzzy--but I just took 'em with my phone)

Legs
I do not have pretty legs. My mama had pretty shapely legs--but I didn't get 'em. Mine are more like stove pipes.
I really don't know what started me thinking about legs--and Aunt ZeeZee's legs (name changed of course), maybe it is the approach of summer......But anyway I was thinking about Aunt ZeeZee's legs....they were big and kind of loose, you know kind of floppy. (Mine are not floppy--just big) And they kind of jiggled all over when she walked. In fact they almost had a life of their own and kept jiggling for a few seconds even after she stopped walking.
Also they were covered in varicose veins...imagine a road map of rural area....big varicose veins and a plethora of little tiny spider veins. Makes me think of Carroll County.
And she never ever shaved her legs. Never. I could elaborate here but I won't.
How was I so familiar with Aunt ZeeZee's legs.......are your ready for this? Because she wore shorts. Not Daisey Dukes, but not pedal pushers either. Shorts that fell about 6 inches above her knees.......oh those knees.......
What on earth was she thinking? I never ever saw my mother (with her pretty legs) in shorts.
As I was thinking about this (remember--things rattle around in my head), it occurred me that after the initial shock of seeing those legs in shorts, I just accepted it. That's the way you did with Aunt ZeeZee, you just accepted what she did and said.
She was quite intelligent--a teacher, a genealogist, creative and somehow now when I think of her, I think of Eudora Welty (sorry Eudora-I never saw your legs). That 1940's southern womaness thing.
I could write pages and pages about her. But I just had to tell you about her legs.....now that said, I only wear shorts around the house and if you come to the door unannounced when I have on shorts--you won't get in.

My Nine Names
Taking a break from cleaning the house and I was thinking about a quote that I read somewhere a long time ago. Cats need nine names for their nine lives--3 for coming, 3 for going and 3 for staying. So because things rattle around in my head, I was thinking about what my nine names are......so here we go.
My real name is Angelyn
My online name is AngelMc
My Victorian name is Evangeline
My Goth Girl name is Angelique
My Goddess name is Astrild
My Native American name is Sleeps With Dogs
My southern belle name is Melanie Magnolia

Husband Pornography
My husband surprised me with some hubbie porno when I got home from work today. That's right ladies. I know yawl are jealous. When I walked in--what did I see? But the love of my life standing in front of the stove grilling pork chops, cooking wild rice, stewed potatoes (I know, I know-two starches but I'm not complaining) English peas and corn bread. Oh yeah and the best thing of all--brownies! Yes the smell of the brownies permeating the whole house....
By 6PM I had had my shower, eaten dinner and was propped up doing one of my favorite things--reading blogs.
Now I'm watching American Idol and just about to dive in to those brownies.........Ah heaven.

I got my snow! I got my snow!
Finally, after about 4 years I got my snow. Although it only " a light dusting," I will take it. I left the outside lights on so Avery and I could watch it from our bed. Ever so often the outside motion light would come on (we don't know why it does this--'cause there is nothing moving to make it come on) and we could see the snow whirling around in the black night. We loved it. We stayed up late and watched it.
Avery woke up and was so excited. She and David went outside briefly (she was not prepared for the cold--no gloves) and she was excited. I think it is her first snow.
I'm looking out the windows now and just enjoying the beauty of it. The juxtaposition of the brown trees, the green of the pines, the blue lake and the white snow is very pretty.
I also love the sound of the wind whistling around the back of the house. And the wind coming off the lake is cold!!
The blogs that I read of my friends up north and out west are talking about Spring, and how they can't wait for it to warm up. Me, I want it to stay cold for just a little while longer.
Where ever you are.....enjoy your day......I certainly will be enjoying this snow.
